Remembrance Ceremony | Sky Pines
Cats will burry their dead clanmates & plant a redwood with them at Sky Pines
When a cat passes away the clan holds a remembrance ceremony. Each cat is given the opportunity to say their goodbyes to their clanmate and can leave small gifts, such as flowers. Usually the close friends and family of the cat are the last to say their goodbyes and may spend a longer time doing so. Once the friends and family are ready, the body is taken to the Star Pines to be buried. The family will choose an individual to go and select a redwood cone to be buried with the individual so that a tree can grow in the cat’s place. That night the family and close friends will sit vigil at the Star Pines. The cats can come and visit to watch the tree grow, to remember their passed loved ones and to find a quiet place to rest.
