RedwoodClan

Clan Territory

Territory Description

RedwoodClan is located in a valley with mountains to the northeast and southwest. The territory consists of coniferous forests, woodlands, and foothills. The forests are dominated by Redwoods, Douglas Firs, and Sitka Spruce. Other trees such as Tanoak, Pacific Madrone, Bigleaf Maple, California Laurel, and Red Alder are also common throughout the territory. The undergrowth is composed of plants such as Huckleberry, Blackberry, Salmonberry, California Rhododendron, and Azalea. Sword Fern is very abundant near the water sources such as Little Brook and Twin River. Most mornings the valley is filled with fog or mist which allow the trees to grow to their enormous heights.

Leafbare is generally cold and wet. Frost is common and smaller bodies of water can freeze. Snow can dust the upper foothills and although very rare it can snow further down into RedwoodClan territory. New Leaf and Leaf Fall are mild but can have cold nights. Intermittent rainfall is common and during large storms, there is the threat of flooding.  In Greenleaf, the temperatures are mild but dry. In times of drought, smaller water sources may dry up.

Northern Border

Borders: BeamClan, Open, Open

The Northern Territory is mainly composed of dense coniferous forest. The base of the Towering Peaks create the border between RedwoodClan and the northern plains. Hidden Lake and the clan's camp are also located here.

RedwoodClan Camp

Sheltered deep in the forest the camp is located at the base of the foothills of the Towering Peaks. Surrounded by thorn bushes and redwoods this camp is well protected and easy to defend.

Hidden Lake

The lake at the base of the Towering Peaks on the northeastern part of RedwoodClan. Surrounded by hills and mountains the lake can be easy to miss to strangers. It is feed by the northern part of Twin River which flows from the mountains. It is also where the river forks. This lake is generally shallow but in Newleaf there is a chance of flash floods. This is a great place for finding herbs.

Eastern Border

Border: DreamClan

The Eastern Territory is mainly composed of sparse coniferous forest and woodlands. The Twin Rivers create the border between RedwoodClan and DreamClan. Hidden Lake is in the northern part of this territory feeding the Twin Rivers. To the far northeast is the Forgotten Moors a stretch of plains whose ownership is under debate.

Forgotten Moor

A grassy plain just outside of RedwoodClan territory. Accessible by the stepping stones across the Twin Rivers. It is debated who's territory this land belongs to.

Twin Rivers

A river that forked at Hidden Lake. The western fork flows down the eastern territory of RedwoodClan feeding into Valley Lake. This fork is generally smaller and calmer. In dry seasons it slows to a trickle. In wet seasons it can flood out to Sunning Rock. The eastern fork of Twin River creates the eastern border with DreamClan. This fork is broader and flows quickly. It is not advised to swim across. At its mouth by Hidden Lake there are Stepping Stones that lead to part of the Forgotten Moor, a grassy plain whose ownership is in question.

Southern Border

Borders: Open, DustClan, Open

The Southern Territory is mainly composed of sparse coniferous forest and woodlands. The sparsely wooded foothills of Ice Peaks create the border between RedwoodClan and DustClan. Valley Lake is located here as well as the Sunning Rocks.

Sunning Rocks

A large boulder that is located near the western branch of Twin River. This rock is nice and warm to lay on but also commonly has prey near it. In times of flood this rock will border the river.

Valley Lake

The larger deeper lake at the southern border of RedwoodClan. This lake is fed by the western fork of Twin River. Adventurous cats can attempt to fish in this lake however most of RedwoodClan prefers to hunt the land dwelling wildlife it attracts. Herbs are also plentiful here. One must be careful! Two legs will bring their water monsters to this lake. Beyond the lake lies the Frozen Peaks which signals the start of DustClan Territory.

Western Border

Border: SpiritClan

The Western Territory is mainly composed of woodlands and foothills. The Starlit Hills and Great Peaks create the border between RedwoodClan and SpiritClan. The Great Peaks connects to the Ice Peaks in the south. Sky Pine, Starlit Cavern and Little Brook are located here.

Sky Pine

This is the tallest tree in the territory. This old tree has a split in the trunk which attracts prey. Apprentices commonly learn to hunt and climb here.

Little Brook

A small brook that runs down the western part of the territory. It is a calm moving stream that is fairly shallow. In dry seasons it can completely dry up. In wet seasons it gets a bit deeper and faster moving but hardly ever floods. In Greenleaf it  offers a cool place to rest as well as a good place to find herbs or prey.

Starlit Hills

These are the hills on the western border of RedwoodClan. The lower foothills compose the highest point in RedwoodClan where the trees have thinned out and the cats have a clear view of the stars. The larger hills leading up towards the mountain compose border with SpiritClan. To the southwest where the foothills meet the mountains is Starlit Cavern. On nights when the sky is clear and the stars are bright Leaders and Medicine Cats can travel into the cave to the cavern to speak with StarClan.
