King or Queen |  1/1 | The Heart of the Clan

Kings will take the suffix -sun, Queens will take the suffix

-moon.

The leader of the clan is called the King [male] or Queen [female]. As the heart of the clan the leaders actions, decisions and personality drive how the clan is run. It is up to the leader to uphold the Warrior Code and set an example as to how cats should act within the clan. This example extends to how open the clan is to outsiders and how they respond to bordering clans. Other responsibilities include calling and conducting clan meetings, appointing knights, squires or pages, and creating battle plans, peace treaties or sending aid to other clans. They work closely with the heir to keep the clan running smoothly on a day to day basis and will consult with herbalist and the nobles in times of war or crisis. It is also the leaders duty to create and maintain relations with other clans and to protect their clan from any threats.

The mate of the leader will also take a title [King or Queen], but it is an honorary one. They have no official power, but are highly respected among the clan.

Heir |  0/1 | The Pride of the Clan

Will take the suffix

-star when appointed Heir.

The Heir is the first born kit to the King or Queen. As soon as the kit is born they hold the title of Heir but will still go through the apprenticeship process until they come of age. The heir's main role is to help support the King or Queen in their decisions and to provide counsel when needed. As the leader's second, the heir will stand in for the leader when needed for clan meetings or meetings with other parties. Heirs are responsible for creating and organizing patrols and hunting parties as well as overseeing the training of all apprentices. The heir joins the mentors for all assessments and helps in deciding where apprentices will specialize. If the leader dies or wishes to retire the heir will become the next King or Queen.

If the Heir dies before becoming King or Queen the role falls to the next oldest kit. If there are no kits to fill the role the King or Queen's mate or siblings can be named Heir.

Apothecary & Herbalist |  0/2 | The Soul of the Clan

Apothecary & Herbalists have four suffixes specific to them: -leaf, -stem,

-pool, and -whisper.

Apothecary & Herbalists are responsible for the health of the clan. They have knowledge in healing techniques and herbs. They know what herbs are helpful, how to use them and which to avoid. They are responsible for gathering and maintaining healing herbs, treating the sick and injured as well as passing on that knowledge to the next generation. Apothecaries are skilled in healing and have a special connection StarClan aiding in the interpretation of dreams and signs. The can communicate with StarClan and can receive messages and omens. They have the suffixes -whisper or -pool. Herbalists are skilled healers and have extensive knowledge of herbs and healing techniques. They have the suffixes -stem or -leaf.  In times of crisis they will give counsel to the leader of the clan.

Nobility |  0/# | The Word of the Clan

Can have any suffix other than -star, -sun,  -moon, -stem, -leaf, -pool, or -whisper

Nobility are family members of the King and Queen, including kits born after the Heir. They are high ranking members of the clan but do not hold any official power in the clan. They can have any name title and preform any duties they choose, other than leadership roles. 

Storytellers |  0/# | The Knowledge of the Clan

Can have any suffix. 

A cat may choose to retire to the status of storyteller when they feel they can no longer serve their clan efficiently; of their own initiative or due to old age, injury, or sickness. Storytellers are highly respected in the clan and are free from duties to relax and live comfortably. Storytellers are known to help watch kits and apprentices and are avid at relaying tales. Storytellers are an invaluable source of knowledge and may be called upon for counsel in times of great need.

Counsel |  0/# | The Bravery of the Clan

Can have any suffix. 

Senior members of the warrior classes make up the counsel. They are respected members of the clan and are the top ranking in their class. They are considered experts in their class. In times of war they will aid in planning and decision making. 

Knights |  0/# | The Strength of the Clan

Can have suffix -claw, -fang, -strike, or

-talon

A Knight is a cat that specialize in the protection of the clan. Being skilled fighters, strength and focus are their calling cards. Knights work closely with the deputy to organize border patrols. Their primary job is to defend the clan. This includes going on patrols, dealing with rival clans, intruders or predators that threatening the clan. They know how to analyze a fight and have mastered the moves they used battles. They are also constantly working to learn of new fighting techniques. Extremely skilled Knights may know a few different styles of fighting. Senior Knights join the Counsel and in times of war and are regarded as skilled strategists.

Sentinels |  0/# | The Eyes of the Clan

Can have suffix -gaze, -watch, -call, or -eyes

A Sentinel is a cat that specializes in guarding the camp. Being skilled defenders, focus and agility are their calling cards. Their primary job is to guard the camp from intruders. This includes standing watch during the day or night, keeping an eye on kits and pages, upkeep of camp defenses and being mindful of threats in the territory and ones that may come from outside the territory. They have excellent senses and are skilled fighters when called upon. They work closely with Knights and Assassins to be prepared for dangers that may arise. Senior Sentinels join the Counsel and in times of war and are regarded as skilled defenders.

Rangers |  0/# | The Determination of the Clan

Can have suffix

-whisker, -nose,

-tooth, or -pounce

A Ranger is a cat that specializes in providing food for the clan. Being skilled hunters, stealth and agility are their calling cards. Their primary job is to provide food for the clan. This includes going on hunting patrols, going on extended hunting parties to find new sources of food, and knowing the best places to find various types of prey. They know how to track and are very good at staying hidden amongst the underbrush. They are also constantly working to learn new and varied hunting techniques. They are trained to know the best places to find food even in the harshest winters. They will also work closely with Knights to aid in border patrols. Senior Rangers join the Counsel and in times of war and are regarded as skilled resource gatherers.

Assassins |  0/# | The Loyalty of the Clan

Can have suffix

-shadow, -mist,

-feather, or -step

An Assassin is a cat that  specializes in providing information for the clan. Being skilled spies, stealth and intelligence are their calling cards. Their primary job is to keep an eye on clans and groups outside of GraniteClan borders. This includes traveling to learn about the neighboring clans and groups, bringing back items or information of interest, and dealing with potential threats to the clan. They also can help Rangers find new, safe food sources or hunting techniques and Knights with battle tactic or new fighting styles. They are constantly working to learn as much as they can about outsiders and threats. They are trained to remain unseen and to handle a variety of different tasks. Senior Assassins join the Counsel and in times of war and are regarded as skilled spies.

Messengers |  0/# | The Warmth of the Clan

Can have suffix -foot, -leap, -flight, or -tail

A Messenger is a cat that specializes in the diplomacy of the clan. Being skilled travelers, speed and stamina are their calling cards. Messengers run communications between the clans. Their primary job is to take messages from the clan to other groups. This includes bringing aid to clans that need assistance, bringing messages of warning, peace or other important matters. They know how to read other cats and tactics to mitigate tense situations. They are also constantly working to improve relations of clans on GraniteClan's borders. They are trained to know the best and safest routes between the clans. Senior Messengers join the Counsel and in times of war and are regarded as skilled diplomats.

Squires |  0/# | The Lifeblood of the Clan

Will gain the suffix      -paw once they complete beginner training.

Once a Page passes their assessment they will become a Squire of their chosen class and will receive the suffice -paw. Once in their class they will receive further more in depth training of that class's specialty. They will have more independent tasks and training and will be placed in small groups with older members to hone their skills. Unlike Pages, Squires will aid in more dangerous missions and tasks. At 24 moons of age they will be given a mission to complete. Upon its completion they will gain their class suffix. 

Pages |  0/# | The Apprentice of the Clan

Will receive the suffix -pad until their assessment.

A kit is given a mentor at the age of 4 moons and receives the suffix -pad. As a young apprentice they start basic training with their mentors. This includes learning the territory, basic hunting and defensive skills. They aid their mentor in their daily duties and are given simple tasks to complete on their own. Once their basic training is completed and they reach 8 moons of age they will have an assessment to place them into a class for further training.

Kits |  0/# | The Future of the Clan

Will have the suffix

-kit until they are apprenticed at 4 moons of age.

From the time a cat is born until the turn 4 moons old they are considered a kit. They stay with their mother in the nursery with playtime in the camp once they get older. They are not allowed to wander outside of camp and are to always be under the watchful eye of their mother.
